During the Second World War, combatants created information campaigns to prepare personnel for gas attacks. These posters, developed by the United States Army, used pin-up girls to promote awareness of gas. Chemical gases had distinctive odors that, if smelled, could provide enough warning for personnel to don respirators and other protective gear.
